History
In 2010 Derek Whetzel, Shawn Whetzel, Hicks, and Keith Smoot began running a paintball field in Burlington, WV named Patterson Creek Paintball. They loved the sport and decided to enter their first 3-man USXL tournament in 2011 under the name Keyser Undead and took home 5th place. The team entered the subsequent tournament in the USXL series and took home 10th place. Becoming hungry for more, they entered the 2012 season by adding players to the roster and playing 5 man in the EPL series. The season saw the team take home a 6th, 7th, and 5th place twice. With a new season also came a name change due to internal conflict and Keyser Undead became Keyser Karnage. During the 2013 season the team continued playing the EPL series taking 4th, and 5th place twice. The 2013 season saw a team that was struggling to keep it together and find the synergy they needed and they found themselves disbanded for the 2014 season. The 2015 season found the core players, Smoot and Derek wanting to try to bring the tournament play back. They sought out a key figure for this season and found that in seasoned veteran Mike Davis. Karnage only entered one event that year, taking 7th out of 17 in the GPL’s first event. The team stuggled to maintain a solid core of quality players in 2015 thru 2017. Fast forward to the 2018 season when the core players from the previous years Davis, Whetzel, and Smoot attended an open play practice at 300FPS in Cumberland, MD. That day is the day the team changed forever. Karnage meet up with a group of guys at a local field named 300 FPS. Alex Yost, Ben Duncan, and the Mckenzie brothers of Dean and Matt. In March 2018 the original core guys, alongside the new members entered their first BPL as a newly structured team taking 1st place. The rest of the 2018 season saw Karnage place 6th, 4th, and another 1st place ending the 2018 as the BPL series champions. The 2019 season saw the team playing several events in the BPL, EPL, NXL, ICC with our best placing being 5th. The 2020 COVID pandemic season saw the Karnage attending the new APES league in Pittsburgh, PA taking two 5th places along with 8th. Karnage also played in the EPL bringing home a 1st Place win and finishing what was left of the 2020 season with a 14th place at the EPL championship.
